Parents Share Story of Hope After Daughter's Suicide

When Alexandra Valoras committed suicide, her parents, Dean & Alicia, were completely blindsided. No parent ever plans to go through this horrible tragedy. Dean & Alicia had no warning signs leading up to their seemingly-happy daughter’s suicide. Alexandra was what some would consider the “perfect child”. She always seemed content, had a great group of friends, a straight-A student and was making plans for her future. There was nothing to indicate that Alexandra was struggling. It wasn’t until after her death, that Alexandra’s parents came across journals that would change their perspective on depression forever. These journals were full of very raw, painful emotions that Alexandra never shared with anyone. No one know the battle that was raging inside of this sweet, loving girl. Dean and Alicia are speaking out and sharing their story in hopes that other parents will not suffer the same tragedy that their family has gone through. Americans are known for their busy schedules, children are participating in more demanding extra-curriculars as they work toward potential scholarships for college. But at what cost? In Alexandra’s journals she wrote “I’m stretched thin”. Are we allowing children to be just that, children? Take the time to speak with your children, your grandchildren. Encourage them to find an adult that they trust to share their feelings. We pray for peace and comfort for the Valoras family. We truly appreciate their passion in helping others see the need to listen to those in the family and not be afraid to ask hard questions. If you or someone you you or someone you know are struggling, please seek help 1800-273-8255 (National Suicide Hotline)

Josh Groban Shares Story Behind Duet '99 Years' with Jennifer Nettles

Josh Groban and his music have always been favorites of mine, and I always love learning the meanings behind songs. In this video, Josh is sharing the story behind his powerful new ballad, ‘99 Years.’ They build a house of love in the face of worry But life has a way of rewriting the story There were times when it looked like nothing could save them And there were times when it looked like nothing could break them “It’s one of those songs about the uncertainty of what’s ahead.” Josh shared. And after he finished writing the song, he realized that it should be performed as a duet. After wondering who would be perfect to sing alongside him, he decided on Jennifer Nettles because of the song’s ‘accidental’ country sound. Josh reflected on his own parents’ 50-year marriage as he thought about the inspiration for the song’s lyrics. “My parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. I think many people in my generation and younger wonder, “what are they thinking about, the future-future?” He remarked that it’s more common for his generation to take it one day at a time. “It’s a very topsy-turvy world we’re living in. And when I think about my parents and their last 50 years . . . all of the years of history that they’ve lived through, all of the trials and tribulations and hardships that they’ve gone through together . . . you know, that’s not something that I can fathom, not being married yet.” Josh shared that it was these imaginings that led him to write this song about the ‘romance of these uncertainties.’ Will we look back down on 99 years of a wonderful life? Where we laughed till we cried and our love grew stronger with every fight . . . So let's look forward to you and I looking back At 99 years like that, at 99 years like that If you’ve been married for a long time, what would you want to share with someone who can’t begin to imagine what living a lifetime with someone would look like?

Love You Anymore' by Michael Buble'

After learning that his oldest son, Noah, was diagnosed with liver cancer, popular singer Michael Buble put his music career on hold while he spent more time with his family. ‘We have always been very vocal about the importance of family and the love we have for our children. Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well.’ Now, Noah is doing better, and Michael is back to making music. And his newest video, Love You Anymore, shows that his talent appears to have only grown in his time away from recording! In 2016 when Michael and his wife learned of their son’s diagnosis, they reached out asking for prayers during this difficult time. They received such an utpouring of love that was bigger than anyone could’ve ever imagined. Michael’s fans rallied around the singer and give him all the love and support that he needed. The family put their faith in God and the most amazing thing happened next. Noah’s cancer was gone. He was able to undergo surgery where doctors were able to remove the tumor completely. Now, Michael is thanking his fans for standing by his side and hoping to give them the best music and concerts they’ve seen from him yet. This beautiful song about a lost love is so heartbreaking! Just because I wander 'round the places we would go Hoping that I'd run into you one last time Just because I never took your picture off my phone Doesn't mean that you're still on my mind Michael’s story is such an incredible story of faith, family and miracles. I’m definitely a fan of Michael Buble from now on.

Emotional Act by Attraction Shadow Theatre Group Brings Judges to Tears

Britain’s Got Talent has had some truly unforgettable performances. We are still in awe of the “Attraction Shadow Theatre Group”. Every performance from this group, created by using their body’s shadows to tell stories, is truly stunning. The Hungarian shadow group opens their performance with a beautiful backdrop and their bodies forming the famous “Stonehenge” rock formation. The story being told is about a couple who fall in love, marry and have a child. Through the telling of their relationship, the shadows act out the pair dancing on the London Bridge, getting married at a church, and riding in a limousine! With each new acted out scene, the shadows get more and more intricate. The next moment is a stunning backdrop of a clock tower and a baby’s pram. What comes next in the love story is where we started to cry. Tragically, the husband and father is sent off to war where he dies. The stunning recreation of the camel and palm tree depicting the Middle East hit very close to home for many of us who have family that served in the recent wars. The piece ends very somber with the mother and child placing flowers on his tombstone. Understandably, there wasn’t a dry eye in the audition or at the judge’s table when the theatre group’s performance was complete. The audience quickly rose to their feet along with the stunned judges. When the group steps out for their bows, it is shocking to find out that there are only eight performers! What an incredibly talented group of artists!

Touching Moment Man Reunited With his Dog Who Was Lost For Three Years

Losing a loving pet is never easy but animal lovers know that you never give up hope. We were overjoyed watching this video of a man reunited with his dog who had been missing for three years! Giorgi Bereziani, 62, had been looking for his missing pooch, Jorge, for years. He put up posters all over his city of Georgia begging for any sign of Jorge. After three years had passed, Giorgi was losing hope that his beloved dog might be returned to him. On October 7, Giorgi received an unexpected call and one that he won’t forget for a very long time. A worker from the city’s Opera and Ballet Theatre thought he had seen a dog who matched Giorgi’s flyers. Giorgi wasted no time rushing to the area that the workers had spotted a scruffy black and white dog. As he approached the area, Giorgi’s friend began filming and boy, are we thankful! In the video, Giorgi saw a dog lying under a tree and calls out to him, “Jorge, is that you?' Jorg Jorge, it's you! Oh, dear boy, how are you, boy?'” That’s when the dog hears his owners name and completely loses it. The dog is obviously the missing Jorge, and is so pleased to see his owner! The dog begins whimpering and barking, climbing all over Giorgi. The two are clearly so very happy to be reunited! Towards the end of the video, Jorge is so happy to have been found that he is barking and jumping on anyone who will listen to his tale! The last three years must have been difficult for the dog and he’s so very pleased to be reunited with a family who loves him and will probably spoil him rotten from now on!

Musician Ben Folds Stuns Audience Composing A Song LIVE In 10 Minutes

We are still smiling over this amazing display of musical creativity and enormous talent! Ben Folds is the artistic advisor for the National Symphony Orchestra. This video clearly demonstrates why he was chosen. Many composers would be quite hesitant to take on a challenge like composing on the spot, but not Mr. Folds! As Fold’s was introduced to an excited audience, the host asked for audience participation. First, choose a key that Ben would compose a song (A minor) and choose a tempo (upbeat). Finally, the audience was asked to shout out an interesting sentence from their program (“These new spaces are all designed to be flexible.”) For the final component of the challenge, Ben was asked to compose his piece using these elements in a mere 10 minutes! Our palms are sweaty just watching this video! With no hesitation, Ben Folds sits down at the piano and begins playing a rhythm and singing his given sentence! If you think that’s all he has to offer, you’d be wrong. Continue watching, we guarantee it’s worth it! He maps the piece quickly in his head and then begins building his composition on the various instruments around him. Folds calls out music theory components to the musicians and of course, the talented Orchestra is completely following him! Folds works his way around the orchestra, wind and reed instruments, then violins. With just those components, he asks them to play to verify that “it’s not crazy”. Of course, the sound is stunning! He quickly moves through the rest of the instruments so as not to go over his allotted 10 minutes. Then the final product was pieced together and performed live for a completely baffled musical audience. Ben Folds began singing through the section of the attendees program that contained his required sentence. The result is truly stunning! Such incredible talent not only in Ben Folds but in the musicians who happily followed him in this musical experiment!

Rory Feek Shares How He's Keeping Wife Joey's Memory Alive

It’s hard to believe that it’s been two years since beloved singer Joey Feek lost her battle with cancer. Now, Rory Feek, her husband and the other half of the country duo is opening up about his life today, and how Joey’s legacy is living on! Joey Feek was filled with such talent and joy. Her friends, family and fans were stunned to learn that this vibrant soul would lose her battle with cancer and they mourned the loss of this powerfully inspirational woman. She seemed to take everything that life dished at her in stride. She had a gift for positivity and remaining grateful for the blessings in life. When Joey and Rory Feek first learned that they were expecting their first baby, they took a little break from performing to concentrate on their family. Soon after, their daughter, Indiana, was born with Down syndrome. And shortly after that, Joey was diagnosed with cancer. She would sadly pass away at just 40 years old. But their love story would still have another chapter, as Rory would continue to find ways to honor his late wife. The farm where they made their home would be used to inspire a whole new generation. “It’s beautiful and tragic at the same time. But the beautiful outweighs the tragic,” Rory shared. In this candid interview at the couple’s farm, Rory shares about Joey’s legacy and and how Rory is excited to share the success of the schoolhouse he had built on his property for children with all learning abilities. When asked what he thought Joey would say about what he had done with the property he said, “She would say my husband is crazy. Good job.”

Will Ferrell Surprises Coldplay's Chris Martin on Stage with More Cowbell

Chris Martin, the lead singer from the popular band Coldplay, was performing on stage when he was surprised by a movie star guest who strolled onto the stage and stole the show! None other than a cow bell toting comedian, Will Ferrell, joined Chris on stage while he was performing an acoustic version of ‘Viva La Vida.’ At "Will Ferrell's Best Night of Your Life," a cancer-charity concert, the Talladega Nights alumnus Will Ferrell made the crowd go wild when he came out on stage. Chris was performing "Viva La Vida," and started laughing when a very serious-faced Will came out clanging away! Will Ferrell made the cowbell part of comedy history when he was on SNL in a sketch with actor Christopher Walken who kept demanding ‘more cowbell!’ In the sketch, Will Ferrell’s character very seriously played cowbell to a popular classic rock song. Chris Martin looked very surprised and then immediately walked over to Will. After laughing a bit at the straight-faced Will seriously playing cowbell, Chris continued playing--happily sharing the stage with the comedian. Will took the idea of photobombing to the next level with this appearance! And while some may have been annoyed by the intrusion, I love what a good sport Chris was about Will’s unexpected joke. He was obviously not upset at the surprise and seemed so genuinely happy to be part of the joke! Micah 6:8 But he's already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It's quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, And don't take yourself too seriously - take God seriously.

EmiSunshine Sings Beautiful Acoustic Version Of 'Wide River To Cross'

EmiSunshine treats us to one of her favorite Buddy Miller, songs with this beautiful acoustic rendition of “Wide River to Cross.” Taking place in an old church with ideal acoustics, Emi uses a church pew for her stage stool to sing an almost haunting cover of this tune. When she begins to sing, her voice eerily echos in the almost hollow space setting a chilling tone for the story she unfolds. “There's a sorrow in the wind Blowing' down the road I've been I can hear it cry while shadows steal the sun” Taking in what the song itself is trying to say, gives us insight to a story of someone who has had a long weary journey in their life and still trying to push through. This beautiful song sounds like it could have been recorded during the Great Depression. During an era where so many were struggling to make their way and many songs from the time period focused on the idea of home and hope as synonymous. Everyone was on a journey of survival, many had endured WWI. They understood difficult times and that “pressing on” was a way of life. That’s just what this haunting tale written by Buddy Miller seems to share. While it’s a big song for such a young girl to tackle, EmiSunshine has done a great job capturing the feel of this intense song in her vocals! “I'm only halfway home I gotta journey on / To where I'll find the things that I have lost / I've come a long long road still I've got miles to go / I've got a wide wide river to cross” How blessed that we do not have to cross those rivers without God’s help? In our moments of true exhaustion and weakness, God gives us extra grace to continue forward!

School Choirs Compete for Top Honors with Hymn 'Give Me Joy in My Heart'

‘Give Me Joy in My Heart’ has always been one of my very favorite hymns, and In this classic clip from a BBC TV show, talented students perform a beautiful version of thie song! Six of the best middle school choirs perform a hymn of their choice to impress judges who have to decide which three make it to the final and be named School Choir of the Year. Listen and be blessed by these wonderful lyrics, as these young voices lift our Lord and Saviour in praise! Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising, Give me joy in my heart, I pray; Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising, Keep me praising till the break of day: Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to the King of kings. Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to the King. Give me peace in my heart, keep me loving, Give me peace in my heart, I pray; Give me peace in my heart, keep me loving, Keep me loving till the break of day: Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to the King of kings. Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to the King. Give me love in my heart, keep me serving, Give me love in my heart, I pray; Give me love in my heart, keep me serving, Keep me serving till the break of day: Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to the King of kings. Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to the King.

Leticia Yuzefpolsky Shares Testimony After Nine Family Members Killed

Leticia Yuzefpolsky faced a horrible tragedy when her family was murdered in 2008 on Christmas Eve. But this survivor isn’t willing to allow the situation to steal her joy. Online comedian, Kristina Kuzmic is known for her funny videos on parenting. Her aim is to bring humor and a new perspective to situations that normally might bring frustration. Stepping outside of her normal pattern, Kristina asked her friend Leticia to share about her experience and how she has moved forward. “When I think about hope, when I think about going through hell and then emerging and still being able to find joy and fulfillment in life, I think of my friend, Leticia.” On Christmas Eve 2008, Leticia’s former brother-in-law, Bruce Pardo, dressed up as Santa Claus came to her parent’s home where the family was gathered and killed nine members of Leticia’s family. Leticia’s 8-year-old daughter was hit in the face but was able to escape. Before taking his own life, Pardo used a homemade explosive device which engulfed the home in flames. Leticia lost her parents, siblings and sibling-in-laws that night. Her children, husband and some nieces and nephews were able to escape. “One of the things that helped me through my grief, absolutely was my faith. You replace the bad with really good…” In the face of such utter darkness, Leticia knew that she couldn’t allow evil to win in her life or her family’s. Leticia is sharing her story in hopes that someone who may be struggling with heartache and difficult situations can see that their life story doesn’t have to be defined by others. “Don’t give up hope. Take the time to grieve. Move forward by looking at just the next day. And focus on your goal, which is joy, at the end of it. Joy. In time.” What a beautiful message! We are so moved by Leticia’s story and how she has chosen to allow God to use her to help others and to encourage her own family.

Us The Duo - America's Got Talent Recap

“Us the Duo” took the music world and audience by storm with their stellar musical performances on ‘America’s Got Talent’. The pair met in 2011 on the set of a music video and became the best of friends. It wasn’t long before they were married and performing as husband and wife. Unlike some of the contestants on AGT, “Us the Duo” have quite the extensive musical performance resumé. Their smooth sound and charming connection on stage made them a clear choice for the television talent series. Michael and Carissa Alvarado began their joint musical career creating Vines (short video clips) of their cover music. Quickly gaining a massive following, it wasn’t long before this team found themselves on popular talk shows. With such exceptional talent it was no surprise that they went on a successful tour with Pentatonix in 2016. With a unique folksy sound, Us the Duo easily made their way into the semi-finals of AGT before being eliminated. But the impression they left on the viewers and the music industry was huge. The pair captured hearts with their song choices and passion in performance. Both are incredibly talented musicians and were seen performing on multiple instruments throughout the competition. But it wasn’t just their musical ability that the audience connected with. During the filming of the show, Carissa was pregnant and audiences loved following along with their family’s love story. Their beautiful baby girl Xyla Rose was born October 8! We hope that this stunning family continue to be blessed and that Xyla grows up to love and appreciate music as much as her talented parents do!

Dad and Kids Sing Hymn 'Give Me Joy in My Heart' with Ukeleles

“Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising, Give me joy in my heart, I pray; Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising, Keep me praising till the break of day:” What a wonderful way to praise the Lord as a family! We love this Dad and his young children taking the time to worship together. Learning a musical instrument is so important to use all the amazing gifts that God has given us. The skill that it takes to learn chord structures, rhythmic patterns, and the “hand-eye coordination” that is involved in playing an instrument are so valuable. Not only does music serve as a stress reliever but it is a great social tool as well. Many families are seeing a resurgence in the ukelele as a portable instrument that is smaller in frame for children to begin their musical training. What a great way to gather the family in a pastime that they can enjoy for years to come! Seeing these brothers and sister play together with the Dad is so refreshing! It’s clear that they are really enjoying their time together. The littlest is so sweet as she keeps time with her strumming and making sure that she’s playing along with her brothers. It’s adorable seeing her older brother leaning in for their feature “Hallelujah!” cheer in the middle of the verse! We love how the kids are so involved in the song and what an uplifting message to have running through your heart!

Therapy Pigeon Helps Girl With Autism To Enjoy Life Again

When Ash Holbrook fostered a baby pigeon she never expected it to change her life. Ash was born premature and later diagnosed with autism. The bird she rescued, named Geraldine, soon became her “therapy pigeon”. Geraldine was found injured after falling out of a barn rafter. When it was time to release the pigeon, Geraldine didn’t want to leave. The same day Ash’s dog of 15 years passed away. That’s when Ash realized that this feathered friend was something special just for her. Geraldine gives Ash the same sense of peace that her beloved dog had offered. “It’s just crazy how a tiny little bird can impact your life in such a beautiful way” Ash shared to The Dodo. “As long as she’s with me, I can go anywhere.” Because of her autism, Ash was struggling with being overwhelmed by her surroundings. But with Geraldine around, Ash finds that the pigeon becomes her focus and she feels a sense of calm. Because the bird was found when it was very young and has been fostered in a home, it has learned to be very calm around people. Ash’s mom shared that before Geraldine was in their life, Ash struggled to vocally communicate but with the comfort of the sweet bird, Ash is finally able to have the needed confidence to talk with others. When Geraldine went missing while on a recent road trip, Ash was devastated. Local news stations picked up her story, thankfully Geraldine found just the right carport to seek refuge. Dolores Chavez saw the pigeon from the news stories and called out to Geraldine who flew to her arm! If birds could talk, we think that Geraldine knew she had a job to do! Of course, birds cannot go through true “therapy” training, but this “emotional support animal” takes her job very seriously. Geraldine clearly loves on Ash as much as she receives love! What a beautiful relationship with one of God’s special creatures!

Akash and Kamri Perform L-O-V-E Dancing with the Stars: Juniors!

We are completely L-O-V-E over this adorable duo’s recent fox trot performance on Dancing With The Stars: Juniors! Akash & Kamri obviously worked hard on this routine and their choice in song was spot on. There is something truly moving about Nat King Cole’s “L-O-V-E” that makes us want to get up and dance as well! From the first camera angle on adorable Kamri Peterson, we were hooked! This 10-year-old from Utah has been studying dance since she was able to walk. Her biography on the show’s website shares that she really loves Ballroom and has won many titles in the dance world. Paired with Spelling Bee star, Akash Vukoti these kids have amazing charisma! He may be small but he truly packs a lot of personality into every step! Who would have thought that Akash could move so effortlessly for someone so young and with very little training. The fox trot is one of our favorite dances and that might be partially because of the beautiful dresses that the women wear! Kamri was dressed in a gorgeous flowing gown that bellowed out into a stunning wave of feathers! With every step her dress was accentuating the lines of the dance – including the amazing aerial jump in the middle of the dance! It’s clear that these two truly L-O-V-E dancing together and are really getting into the joy of dancing. Their smiles during the song were absolutely radiant. We loved Akash and Kamri’s sweet hug at the end of their dance. They showed such joy and overwhelming excitement as they prepared to meet the judges. There’s no question that they were pleased with their hard-earned performance and had a lot of fun in the moment!

TV Interview | Matthew Duke Rodgers | Stand Alone | LitFire Publishing

On May 14, 1989, a student named Duke Rodgers (the author) met a vehicular accident in which caused serious head injuries. He was then a student at the University of Missouri at Columbia. His experience during the process of healing was never easy. But with a strong will to survive, he proved to himself and to the Lord that he can make it despite the emotional and physical pain and difficulty he has experienced during the different ordeals. Once ready to get back to school, Duke requested for accommodation for his learning difficulties in relation to the accident. Unfortunately, the very institution who should have taught him education is the one denying him assistance.
