Waiting is one of the hardest parts of life because most things take longer than we want them to. Maybe you’re waiting for a breakthrough, a healing, a restored relationship, a job, direction, or simply relief—and the delay is stretching your faith thin. The truth is, God works in both the sudden and the slow. Sometimes He answers quickly. Other times, He builds something deeper in us while we wait—patience, endurance, maturity, trust. And just because you don’t see movement doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Philippians 1:6 reminds us that God is not careless with unfinished things. He doesn’t begin work in you and then abandon the project. He is faithful. He is intentional. And He will carry His work forward until it is complete. So tonight, take comfort in this: your progress may feel slow, but God’s grip on your life is steady. Even in the delay, His grace is still active—and His timing is still good. In terms of comedic television, it will be hard for anyone ever to top The Carol Burnett Show. The program is absolutely legendary, with clips of the show still making people burst into uncontrollable bouts of laughter decades after it ended its run on television. I challenge you to watch one of the show’s many skits and not burst out laughing at least once.

One of the main reasons the show was and is so beloved is because of its all-star cast. Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman and Vicki Lawrence are a heck of a talented lineup. Now, while the show was named after Carol, it was arguably Tim, another cast member, who stole the show most often. Anytime he was in a skit, you just knew something deliriously funny was not too far away.

While being interviewed by Conan O’Brien, Tim shared details about his life growing up in Northwest Ohio and how he originally wanted to be a jockey before show business got in the way.

Then, Tim shared some tidbits about the legendary dentist sketch, in which Harvey completely loses it, pretty much from the get-go. Tim, playing the dentist, accidentally injects himself with Novocain on several occasions, causing parts of his body to go to sleep.

Unbelievably, Tim mentioned that during his time in the Army, that exact thing happened to him when he went to see a dentist. That would have been more than a little frightening. The Carol Burnett Show version is a lot funnier, I’m sure.

Carol Burnett was left stunned when a familiar face and a co-star delivered a surprise musical performance. The tune this individual sang was also very familiar to most, and particularly meaningful to Carol. Carol Burnett is a Hollywood icon and a comedic legend. She has had a long, illustrious and storied career spanning decades. If they were to make a Mt. Rushmore of comedy, Carol’s face would most certainly belong on that monument. 

While she is best known for her legendary television comedy show, The Carol Burnett Show, she also appeared in a handful of recognizable and iconic films. Of course, the one that immediately comes to mind is the 1982 musical “Annie.” That’s one that everyone is familiar with, even if you are not a fan of musicals.

In the movie, Carol played the evil Miss Hannigan. Starring alongside her in the film was Bernadette Peters. A clip posted on social media captured a special moment, a reunion between the two “Annie” co-stars.

It’s clear from Carol’s reaction that she was not made aware of Bernadette’s appearance beforehand. Her mouth is literally left hanging open as she takes the stage and sings a song that everyone knows and loves. She is just as surprised as everyone in the audience, who can be heard hooting and hollering at the announcement of Bernadette Peters. Bernadette beautifully performed the song that Carol would sing at the end of every episode of The Carol Burnett Show.

Despite being in her 90s, Carol remains relatively active, popping up in television shows and movies from time to time, and why not? If she is still willing and able to do it, more power to her. There aren’t many people who will say they’ve had their fill of Carol Burnett. She remains as beloved as ever.

Promises can inspire hope—but they can also stir up skepticism when we’ve been let down by others.
