Faith Like the Shepherds | Your Nightly Prayer

Father, Thank You for sending Your Son and for revealing His coming first to humble shepherds. Their story reminds me that You draw near to the lowly and the willing. Help me submit my heart to You with the same simple faith and obedience they showed. This Christmas season, overwhelm me with Your love and joy. Let the miracle of the nativity reshape my focus and deepen my desire to share Your story with others. Amen.

A Prayer When Christmas Looks a Bit Tight This Year | Your Daily Prayer

Dear Jesus, Christmas feels a bit tight this year, and I’m struggling with feelings of guilt, fear, and inadequacy. Remind me that these feelings do not come from You. Help me remember that the purpose of Christmas has never been about gifts, spending, or trying to keep up with others. Teach me to embrace simplicity. Help me find joy in making homemade gifts or offering thoughtful gestures, even if they look different from years past. Calm my heart, silence comparison, and center my mind on Your goodness. Bring my focus back to You — the true reason for the season. Fill my heart with peace, gratitude, and confidence that You will provide everything I truly need. Thank You for being my source, my security, and my Savior. Amen.

A Prayer of Wonder at the Manger | Your Daily Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being the God who enters stables and brings glory into the lowest places. Thank You that You do not wait for perfection before You draw near. Forgive me for believing You need my life to be tidy before You can work in it. Help me rediscover the wonder of the manger—the miracle of Perfect Love entering an imperfect world. For everyone whose holiday season feels broken, empty, or nothing like the pictures, remind them that You are the God who specializes in the unexpected places. When I’m tempted to hide my mess, remind me that You came through one. Thank You that no situation is too humble, too painful, or too chaotic for You to enter with transforming love. In the name of Jesus, who still comes to us in the low places, Amen.

Students Stunned When Hugh Jackman Unexpectedly Stops By Choir Practice

Students were stunned when Hugh Jackman unexpectedly stopped by their choir practice. The Hollywood actor gave the high school students quite a thrill when he made a surprise appearance. Watch the short but heartwarming clip to see how the young people responded when the Wolverine actor walked into the room.

We never really know where life is going to take us, what will happen or who we might encounter. Anyone who claims to have all the answers and knows exactly what the future holds is either a liar or delusional. But it’s that unpredictability and inability to predict the future that makes life so exciting, and at times, so frightening.

Our lives can be changed, for better or worse, in the blink of an eye. What makes this even more worrisome to many people is that it often occurs regardless of our actions. For those who believe they are in control and can determine their path and future, that’s essentially a façade. They are fooling themselves.

A clip posted on YouTube perfectly demonstrates how random life can be at times. A high school was in the middle of a rehearsal when Hugh Jackman happened to walk in, and to say that the students were excited would be a severe understatement.  Immediately after the “Les Misérables” actor enters the room, they start screaming, shouting and jumping for joy. They could not believe their eyes.

But giving the actor a loud and joyous welcome wasn’t all the students did. As the clip shows, the choir performed, singing him a tune from the beloved musical “The Greatest Showman.”
At one point during their performance, Hugh turned toward the camera and appeared to have gotten choked up listening to the youngsters sing.

So why was the Hollywood actor at the Milwaukee high school? He was apparently in the Midwestern city to promote his latest movie, which is based on a couple from Wisconsin.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, said the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

These Brave First Graders Jumped into Action—and Saved Their Teacher

These brave first graders jumped into action and saved their teacher. The heroic trio knew precisely what to do during this emergency, helping to keep their teacher alive. Watch the short but powerful clip to hear about the scary circumstances and how these little guys didn’t waste any time; they immediately did what they could to help their teacher in distress.

Life is an unpredictable journey, marked by numerous twists and turns along the way. Sure, we may have an idea of what is coming or how a particular situation may play out, but we cannot be certain. Things do happen, most of which are out of our control. But that’s life, right? When you have plans, life can and often does come along and completely change them.

Since life is so unpredictable, emergencies do occur. Of course, because we never know when they will take place, the best we can do is to be prepared and know what to do. That’s all you can hope for when one of the unforeseen and unfortunate situations happens.

Thankfully, when an emergency occurred in the classroom that impacted an elementary school teacher, three young men knew what to do. They did not shy away from the situation.  A clip posted on YouTube tells the story of how they all stepped in, in a big way, to save a life.

A teacher in Virginia started choking on a piece of food in the classroom. That’s when the three young men took action instead of cowering during the emergency. They divided and conquered, with each of them completing different but crucial tasks. One alerted a nearby teacher to the situation, and another contacted the office and informed the administration that their teaching was choking. At the same time, a third child performed a modified version of the Heimlich maneuver on the choking teacher.

“The student next to me bent me over and started doing back blows to my back to where I dislodged the food,” the teacher said.

“They 100 percent saved my life,” she later added.

The three first graders turned in an A+ performance, with all three of them lifesaving heroes.

This Powerful AGT Audition Reminds How a Single Opportunity Can Spark a New Future

This powerful America’s Got Talent audition reminds us how a single opportunity can spark a new future. This audition and what happened immediately after it completely changed this young woman’s life. Watch the short but heartwarming clip to see how quickly someone’s life can change.

Life is a journey, with many twists, turns and detours along the way. Anyone who claims they have everything figured out is either delusional, a liar or insane, but more likely a combination of all three. Life rarely, if ever, takes the straight, most direct path from Point A to Point B, which is something most people know very well.

Sure, we may have plans or envision ourselves doing this or going there in the future. But, as the old saying goes, if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans, and that is very accurate. Things in life can change quickly, for good or bad. People who go on shows like The Voice, American Idol and America’s Got Talent are all hoping a two to three-minute audition will forever change their lives. A clip posted on YouTube shows this is precisely what happened to one woman and her pup.

In the video, Sara Carson and her pup, Hero, walked out onto the America’s Got Talent stage, and after a few moments of back and forth with the judges, got right into their act. Three of the four judges were not thoroughly impressed with what they witnessed. Simon Cowell, however, saw something in her and Hero and passionately pleaded with his fellow judges to put them through to the next round.

This turned out to be the spark that changed their lives forever. Up until that moment, Sara and Hero were homeless, living in her car. No one believed in her and what she was doing until her audition on America’s Got Talent, which changed everything. Sometimes, all it takes is one person to believe in you and give you a chance.

Romans 15:13 “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace through faith, so that all hope may be yours in the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Joy in the Unexpected | Your Nightly Prayer

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” — Philippians 4:4

A Prayer for Healing and Hope in Christ | Your Daily Prayer

Some wounds are visible — a broken bone, an injury, an unexpected physical setback. Others lie beneath the surface, carried quietly in our hearts, hidden beneath forced smiles and the weight of daily responsibilities. But whether our pain is physical, emotional, or spiritual, Scripture assures us that God sees, God cares, and God heals. Jeremiah 30:17 was spoken to a people who had lost nearly everything. They carried wounds of exile, shame, fear, and despair. Yet into their darkness, God declared a promise: “I will restore you. I will heal your wounds.” It was a message of hope to a hurting people — and that same hope is extended to us today. Alicia Searl shares a deeply personal story of brokenness colliding with the holiday season — a broken foot, a fractured normal, and then a shattering conversation with her daughter that pierced deeper than any physical injury could. Yet even in that painful moment, Christ met her with a strength she didn’t have in herself. The Lord replaced reaction with compassion, anger with unexpected grace, and despair with a reminder that the enemy does not get the final say. Perhaps you also approach this season carrying wounds. A diagnosis. A broken relationship. A difficult child. A weary mind. A hurting body. Something you never saw coming. Take heart — the God who healed exiles, raised the dead, restored the brokenhearted, and bound up the wounded has not changed. He is Jehovah Rapha — the God who heals. He restores what is shattered. He binds what is broken. He breathes hope into hopeless places. Healing may not come instantly, but in Christ it is certain — whether through restoration in this life, or ultimately in His presence where all pain will cease forever. Bible Reading: “‘But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord, ‘because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.’” — Jeremiah 30:17 Takeaway Truths God sees every hidden wound — physical, emotional, and spiritual. His healing begins with His presence, even before circumstances change. Hope doesn’t deny the hurt; it invites Christ into it. Jesus meets us in moments where we feel weakest and gives strength that isn’t our own. God restores His people — then and now — and His promises remain true. Let's Pray Jehovah Rapha, God of healing, God of faithfulness, and God of unfailing promises — I come before You today seeking Your healing hand upon my heart, mind, body, and soul. I surrender every burden: the pain, the fear, the diagnosis, the disappointment, the emotional wounds, and the uncertainties ahead. You are the God who restored a broken nation. You are the God who heals incurable diseases. You raise the dead, lift the fallen, and bind the wounded. You breathe hope into places where hope seems gone. Thank You that the promise You gave then still stands today. Give me strength to lean into that promise and into Christ, especially in this season that calls me to remember the hope that only He can give. Restore me. Heal me. Renew me. In Your holy name, Amen.

Roses For Mama [A Christmas Story] - By Mark R. Spencer

A story of love, devotion, perseverance, compassion, and the spirit of Christmas. A tale of love that transcends death to fulfill a promise made on Christmas Eve, long ago.

The Lord's Prayer: Forgive Us

What happens when we pray, “Forgive us our debts”? In this moving episode, we trace the echo of Jesus’ powerful words from the cross—“Father, forgive them”—as they shook the earth, split the temple veil, and opened the way for broken, ordinary people to stand in the presence of a holy God. From Saul’s dramatic transformation to the stirring awakenings of Martin Luther and John Wesley, and finally to a personal encounter in Baton Rouge, this episode shows how the forgiveness Jesus purchased still breaks chains, lifts burdens, and restores hearts today. Whether carrying guilt, regret, or hidden shame, you’ll discover that the same grace that changed history is still changing lives—and that through Christ, we can boldly and humbly pray: Forgive us our debts.

The God Who Keeps His Promises | Your Nightly Prayer

Promises carry weight. When someone makes a promise, we expect them to follow through. As children, a “pinky swear” sealed that expectation — breaking it simply wasn’t allowed. But human promises are fragile. People forget, circumstances change, and intentions fall short. Not so with God. Clarence Haynes reminds us that God’s promises rest on something infinitely stronger than a pinky swear — His unchanging, unfailing Word. When God declares something, it does not depend on our belief, agreement, or understanding. His promises stand because He stands. As Clarence says, the bumper sticker should really read: “God said it, and that settles it.” This truth comes alive as we reflect on the promise of the Messiah. Immediately after the fall, in Genesis 3:15, God declared that a Savior would come to defeat sin. It was the first prophecy of Jesus — a promise given in the midst of humanity’s darkest moment. Adam and Eve could not have fully understood its meaning, yet God already had redemption in motion. But here’s the tension: God’s promises are always certain — but their timing is often unknown. The promise of the Messiah was fulfilled 4,000 years later. Generations came and went without seeing the prophecy completed, yet God’s Word remained true. The long wait did not weaken His promise. It simply unfolded in God’s perfect timing. This is the pattern of God’s promises in our lives too. We know what God has said — but rarely when He will do it. The uncertainty of timing can shake us, but the certainty of His Word should anchor us. This Christmas season, as you celebrate the birth of Christ, remember: Jesus’ coming is the living proof that God keeps His promises. Not always quickly. Not always how we expect. But always faithfully. Luke 1:37 is the reminder your heart needs: No word from God will ever fail. Not one. Not ever. Let that truth give you confidence, hope, and peace — even in the promises you’re still waiting on. TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE “For no word from God will ever fail.” — Luke 1:37 MAIN TAKEAWAYS God’s promises are guaranteed because of His character, not our circumstances. The birth of Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of God’s first promise of a Messiah. God’s Word is always certain, even when the timing is unknown. Waiting does not weaken God’s promises; it prepares us to trust His sovereignty. Christmas is a reminder that God finishes what He starts. SCRIPTURE REFERENCES Luke 1:37 Genesis 3:15 2 Corinthians 1:20 Psalm 145:13 YOUR EVENING PRAYER Lord, Thank You for being the God who not only makes promises but keeps them. As I reflect on the birth of Jesus, let it be a constant reminder that Your Word never fails. Strengthen my confidence in what You have spoken, not in what I see. My circumstances may shift, but Your promises are unchanging. Guard my heart with Your peace as I wait, trusting that You are faithful to fulfill every word You have spoken. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
