Lin-Manuel Miranda Reacts To Son Playing The Piano

A big-name Hollywood star filmed himself while taking in a musical performance by his son.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is a huge Hollywood star. Lin-Manuel, who is massively talented, can do it all. The man can sing, dance, act and compose music. His talent seemingly knows no bounds.

While he has appeared in several notable films, he’s likely best known for starring in the Broadway smash hit “Hamilton.” Not only did he star in the production, but he also wrote the music for it.

However, in a clip posted on YouTube, it wasn’t Lin-Manuel’s many talents that were on display. Instead, it was that of his son, Sebastian. In the video, Lin-Manuel records himself as he peers directly at the camera while his son sits and plays the piano.

Within the first couple of seconds, Lin-Manuel appears to be at least mildly impressed as he furrows his brow and raises his eyebrows. As the young man continues, Lin-Manuel smirks a time or two. Perhaps the young pianist made an unconventional musical selection. Maybe it was one his father didn’t expect.

Around the 30-second mark of the short clip, Lin-Manuel starts moving his head around in coordination with the notes. During a few seconds of silence, Lin-Manuel, possibly thinking his son is done, looks back and asks about the song.

“What is that one called?” he asks.

But it appears he jumped the gun as the child continues with his musical performance and ignores his father’s question.

At approximately the 1:30-minute mark, the youngster concludes his piece. Dad is beyond thrilled but still has a very urgent question.

“Bravo, what’s it called?” Lin-Manuel asks.

A few seconds later, a little voice responds, answering his dad’s inquiry.

“It’s called Floor/Carpet,” the little guy says.

What a beautiful moment of a father encouraging and cheering on his child.

Dukes Of Hazzard Star John Schneider Tearfully Sums Up Widowhood After Wife's Death

Dukes Of Hazzard star John Schneider tearfully sums up widowhood after his wife’s death. It’s hard to watch, and at times it’s gutwrenching. When we marry, we expect to have a lifetime together. We don’t expect to find ourselves widowed. John has been sharing his journey through grief after his wife, Alicia Allain, died at the age of 53 due to cancer.

“I’m not sure who wrote this, but it about sums it up. ‘Widowhood is more than missing your spouse’s presence. It’s adjusting to an alternate life. It’s growing around a permanent amputation,” he said with tear-filled eyes that threatened to spill over.

He shared how hard daily life is like going to bed for the first time without your spouse by your side. It doesn’t feel like home anymore but an empty shell of what was. It’s being surrounded by reminders of the life you two had built and how it’s no longer the same. He shares it’s because he had molded his life with Alicia.

He shared, “Widowhood is being a stranger in your life. It’s the unnerving feeling of watching yourself from outside your body as you go through the motions.”

He closed his video with one final piece of advice and a blessing for those who are widowed too. “God bless and guide each step until you see them again when they reach out their hand and say, ‘Did you miss me.’ You bet I did. God bless you,” he said. We pray as John walks through this journey of grief that the Lord is close to him. We pray for him to be embraced in God’s arms of comfort and that he finds peace in Jesus.

“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit,” Psalm 34:18.

Police Officer Must Have A Guardian Angel On His Side After Car Almost Barrels Into Him

Traffic stops may not be considered the most dangerous assignments for police officers, but watch as this Fairfax County, Virginia police officer, clearly with a guardian angel on his side, narrowly escapes death when a car nearly barrels into him.

The frightening video is only 1.5 minutes long, actually starting over 1:00. Everything takes place so quickly, and you may well need to rewind in order to catch exactly what happened.

A patrol officer is making a routine traffic stop on the southbound lanes of Fairfax County Parkway. Exercising caution, he stands at the passenger’s side window as he speaks with the driver of the gray 2012 BMW. Most drivers move into the passing lane, but traffic moves well.

Watch closely at the northbound lanes. At 8 seconds, a black 2018 BMW comes quickly into view in the passing lane just on the other side of the grassy median. The vehicle moves fast, and the driver loses control as he enters the curve on the highway. The rear of the car spins around and is propelled into the grass, where it continues to travel backward onto the other lanes—where the gray BMW sits with the police officer at its side! It is a terrifying moment!

Fortunately, the officer saw the car just as it left the northbound lanes, giving him just enough time to run behind the stopped car. Had he not responded at that moment, he would probably have been crushed between the 2012 and the guardrail where he stood!

The black car smashes into the stopped car, bounces back, and then crashes into the officer’s police cruiser, parked not far behind. Though struck and knocked down, the officer scrambles up and appears uninjured, which is almost unfathomable!

He’s not the only person blessed that day. It is amazing, too, that two cars traveled through those lanes immediately following the crash, and they managed to avoid it! A charcoal-colored car and a red car came upon the accident, but they moved onto the shoulder just beyond. Those drivers probably needed to take a breath and offer a prayer of thanks!

The officer immediately calls 9-1-1 and checks those involved for injuries. A 17-year-old was behind the wheel of the black BMW during the May 1 accident. Thankfully,  the teen and two passengers in the car, as well as the driver of the gray car, sustained only minor injuries, and all have been released from the hospital.

The Fairfax County Police Department posted the video, captured by the cruiser’s camera, and they encourage parents to talk to their teen drivers about responsibility behind the wheel. At this time of year, during graduations, proms, and celebrations, it is important to impress upon our youth that their actions have consequences for themselves and others.

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;” Psalms 91:11

Stunning Ice Routine To “His Eye Is On The Sparrow”

Up-and-coming figure skater, Alexa Gasparatto, performs a stunning ice routine to “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” in this video and pays tribute to a skate mom.

Alexa is glowing in sparkling gold, pieces of her beautiful curls nearly matching the color of her costume. She wears gold and silver bracelets, and her lips and nails are pink. She is simply gorgeous. So is her performance!

As the song opens and the lights come up, we see Alexa in a kneeling position with her head down. She looks like she may be praying. She slowly lifts her head toward the sky and stands as the verse begins. First written in 1905, “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” is sung here by Lauren Hill and Tonya Blount, who performed the hymn in 1993’s Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.

Rohene Ward is the choreographer of the routine, and each movement supports the song’s message. Alexa looks heavenward, her arms extended as if trying to reach up and touch God. The first half of the performance is soft like a quiet conversation with Him. And, we don’t hear a sound other than her skates and the music until 1:12 when the audience applauds as Alexa lands her first jump.

Here are four lines from the song:

Why should I be discouraged, and why should the shadows fall?
Why should my heart be lonely and long for heaven and home?
When Jesus is my portion, my constant Friend is He,
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me.

At 1:30 Alexa goes into a glorious spin, and the music builds from there. The second half of the performance reminds us more of impassioned praise. A second perfect jump is landed just as the voices hit the word “sing.” Alexa then demonstrates incredible grace as she extends her right leg back and holds the position as “happy” fills the space. And ”free” is communicated at 2:15 when Alexa leans way back onto the ice, her body open and unguarded for a few seconds.

Her beautiful, moving performance served as a memorial tribute to a fellow skater’s mother. Liz Yoshiko Schmidt's mother, Sandra Kawaguchi, died on December 7, 2022. She was honored at the SK8 GR8 Memorial Ice Show on April 15, 2022, in Chicago, IL.

“Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God.” Psalms 84:3

92-Year-Old Tries Out For The Rockettes After Missing Audition 80 Years Prior

Mary Silvestri, a 92-year-old woman, tries out for the Rockettes after missing the audition 80 years ago. The Rockettes made Mary’s dream come true after they gave her the opportunity to try out for the team. Once they learned her story, they knew they had to make it happen. Mary has a passion for dance and kept it alive all these years. It was one of her God-given talents.

Mary shares she had a dream of trying out for the Rockettes over 80 years ago, but she couldn’t get transportation to New York. The vision of being a Rockette was then gently tucked into the folds of her heart until the opportunity unfolded to watch the tryouts years later. She had no idea the world-famous dance company would let her try out. She merely came to watch but along with 800 other women, Mary rose to the challenge and made her way through tryouts.

She addressed the judges and other auditioners, “80 years ago, I supposed to be here doing what you’re doing,” she said. I couldn't get to New York alone, and no one could take me," she explained. "So here I am today to see you ladies and hope you all make it."

You will love watching this uplifting video watching a woman’s 80-year-old dream come true. Surprisingly God’s word doesn’t tell us to pursue dreams but to pursue him instead.

The beautiful thing about pursuing God is he gives us more than we could ever dream of. When he does fulfill our dreams, it is never what we expected and it usually exceeds our expectations. We serve a mighty God who is the best gift giver because he intimately knows each and everyone one of us.

Now, Mary’s story is being heard by millions and reminding us all it’s never too late nor are we too old to do something we love.

“A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.”  Proverbs 18:16

Nicole C. Mullen Reminds Us To Trust In God's Timing

It may be a hard lesson to master, but during a recent episode of Better Together, Nicole C. Mullen reminds us to trust in God’s Timing. Check out this excerpt from the show for several pieces of wisdom from the ladies.

Many watch The View, The Real, or The Talk, but TBN’s Better Together offers advice for Christian living from faithful women. This 11-minute clip features wisdom from four of the five women on set. The hosts and guests on this episode are: CeCe Winans, Nicole C. Mullen, Kalley Heiligenthal, Beth Redman, and Brooke Ligertwood.

After a quick flash from later in the video, CeCe Winans reflects on the feeling many women have that we must protect ourselves—that if we don’t, perhaps no one will. CeCe remarks that we are in error when we put things on our backs that God never intended for us to carry in the first place.

It’s Nicole who speaks next about the burdens that we foolishly bear. God wants us to take things off our list. And, he wants us to rely on His strength rather than ours. Too many times, we make life harder than it needs to be by trying to handle too much, too alone.

Kalley weighs in next, sharing her own experience as someone who has at times missed out on the joy that comes during the process of getting to a goal or destination. She describes herself as someone whose tendency is to “bulldoze” to and through things in her life. And, in doing so, she’s at times missed out on the opportunity to commune and depend on Jesus along the way.

Our goals should be not merely ours. According to Nicole, they should be supported by our Heavenly Father. While she has a few personal goals, ultimately, she desires to satisfy God’s will for her life. And CeCe comments that it’s important to hold on to our plans and dreams “loosely,” allowing always for God’s will to be done.

While we often think our steps or actions get us to where we want to be, Kalley has learned that the accomplishment of plans and goals have everything to do with how God orchestrates events and situations. Our plans are small, rarely reflective of what He alone can accomplish.

We often make the mistake of setting up timetables in our lives. We think we can control when things happen in our lives, when our dreams come to fruition. Nicole says that’s where we really go wrong. Beth concurs, saying that she has repeatedly found disappointment and heartbreak when she’s tried to force the big moments of her life to take place on her schedule.

The segment closes with a few moments of wisdom from Nicole. She encourages viewers to allow God to bring us through a process of maturation as we wait for our longings to be realized—or better yet, the blessings He has for us. Assuring us that beauty is found when we exchange our schedules for His far better ones, she reminds viewers that without doing so, our lives will be like a cake that is “gooey,”messy, and half baked. Jesus gets it done to perfection!

These truths, shared in 11 minutes, are the things women need to hear. These words of encouragement are far more impactful and potentially life-changing than the latest gossip or heated debate. Thank you, TBN, for the community you provide and the Better Together program!

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3

Mark Wahlberg And Mario Lopez Build ‘Spiritual Muscles’ Through Prayer

Two very recognizable people mentioned how much prayer means to them in a video posted to social media.

Hollywood is not a place or an industry where people often discuss religion or share their faith in Jesus Christ. Instead, normally those in the spotlight – actors, actresses and singers – avoid the topics of religion, faith and Jesus Christ altogether.

However, Hollywood actor and A-lister Mark Wahlberg has never been a person to shy away from his faith. He has continually made comments about how big a role faith plays in his life and how he spends time each day in prayer.

In a video posted on Mark’s Instagram page, the “Transformers” star is joined by fellow actor, Mario Lopez. In the short clip, Mark and Mario walk in the frame and stand in front of a giant and beautifully decorated cross.

Mark says that he and Mario, “his brother in Christ” and “brother in life,” are about to go to church so that they can stay “prayed up.” Later, Mario says they’ve “got to build the spiritual muscles.”

The video, which is only a few seconds long, ends with Mark looking at the camera and informing his followers to “stay prayed up.” He also adds, “God bless you,” as they both walk out of the frame.

So far, the video, which was posted on April 23, has been liked more than 600,000 times.

It is refreshing to see someone who is so visible and recognizable as Mark Wahlberg, who has been nominated for two Academy Awards, be so open and honest about his faith.

Despite many in his industry doing otherwise, Mark has always taken the other route. He routinely shares his belief in God and in the power of prayer during interviews.

Philippians 4:6 “In nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

Good Samaritan Rushes To Save Runaway Baby Stroller Headed For Busy Street

A man came out of nowhere to rescue a child who was headed toward a busy California street.

People do have the ability to inflict pain and hurt on one another. However, they also have the surprising capability to display great kindness, care and concern. Whenever there is a natural disaster or some other catastrophe, people are quick to donate food, money and clothes to those impacted.

One, exhibiting great concern and care for his fellow man, sprang into action and saved the life of a young child in a runaway stroller.

In a clip posted to YouTube, a child in a stroller sits to the left of a vehicle with both doors on the driver’s side open. A woman stands at one of the vehicle’s open doors.

Seconds into the clip, the stroller starts rolling backward, away from the woman. The stroller, with a child strapped in, is headed toward the busy street in Hesperia, California.

The woman in the video immediately notices the runaway stroller. She takes a few steps in the stroller’s direction but falls to the ground. She tries to regain her footing but does not get far before tumbling again. The whole time the stroller gets closer and closer to the road.

The stroller is mere feet from entering the roadway before a Good Samaritan darts in from the right side of the screen and catches the stroller.

The man grabs, turns and then pushes the stroller back to the fallen woman. As this is happening, a second man appears on screen, who helps the woman to her feet.

The man who saved the child’s life and the woman embrace as he brings back the rescued child.

That man is a true hero in every sense of the word. He literally saved a life with his actions.

Hebrews 13:16 “But don’t forget to be doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”
