Have you noticed how difficult it is to forgive your enemies? And it's even harder when they happen to be your parents. You know, when we're kids, our needs and feelings are so intense that the wounds and the injuries suffered during those early years often stay with us for a lifetime. And the pain is immeasurably worse when the one who wronged us was a parent.
A growing number of kids today are suffering from an emotional characteristic known as a "Wounded spirit." Wounded Spirit is the title of a book written by best-selling author, Frank Peretti, about his own painful childhood experiences.
Someone once said if you remove the rocks from a brook, it would lose its song. Well, that holds true for you and me, as well. Author Scott Walker tells of the time he was asked to help some friends dig through the ashes of their house after a fire. When they arrived, all that was standing was a portion of the outer brick wall. Where the piano once stood lay only a pile of ashes and twisted wire. Nothing had survived the blaze.
You may remember that during the 1960's, the Surgeon General declared cigarettes harmful to the smoker's health. More recently, of course, researchers have warned us about the dangers of foods that are high in fat and cholesterol. But something we don't hear as much about are the health hazards of divorce.
I talk to a number of mothers these days, especially those with younger kids who feel like they're suffering from burnout. If they have to do one more load of laundry, or tie one more shoe, they'll just explode.

Thanks. Hopefully, that’s something we say a lot throughout our day…and when you read through the Psalms you see that word show up a lot. This video, beyond being a great way to kick off your worship service, focuses our attention on the who of our thankfulness: God.

You know, I'm told that when I was a very small child, maybe two years of age, my family lived in a one-bedroom apartment, and my little bed was located beside the bed of my parents. My father said it was very common during that time for him to awaken at night to a little voice that was whispering, "Daddy? Daddy?"
The circus performer who walks the tightrope understands that one skill is needed more than any other, and it is balance. I remember watching the women's marathon at the summer Olympics in 1984. One competitor still stands out in my mind. She entered the coliseum for the last lap completely dehydrated and off-balance, listing to her left side and swinging her right hand.
Many marriages, following the honeymoon, lose the wind in their romantic sails and wallow in the doldrums for months, and even years. Marriages that were once exciting and loving can also get caught in the romantic doldrums, causing a slow and painful death to the relationship.
My daughter lived 780 days (2 years and 2 months) and we often wondered after she died, if she knew Jesus. She Did! We know we will see her again and I hope her story will be a comfort to others who have experienced loss. May God comfort you and bless you!
This is a show I make and post to You Tube, but lately the Holy Spirit has been asking me repeatedly to upload them here. Maybe I'll remember to address GodTube, and it's viewers in a couple of episodes or so.
