Setting Spiritual Intentions | Your Nightly Prayer

Some nights, the quiet makes our thoughts louder. We replay today, worry about tomorrow, and wonder if we’re doing enough—especially in seasons where responsibility feels tender and new. As a first-time mom with a newborn, the pressure to make the “right” choices can feel constant, especially in the middle-of-the-night moments when your mind won’t slow down. But God invites us into something gentler than striving. He doesn’t demand perfection—He asks for surrender. Proverbs 16:3 reminds us that committing our plans to the Lord is less about having everything figured out and more about placing our intentions in His hands. It’s trusting that even if the plan changes, God’s purpose remains steady—and His timing is perfect. Tonight, we can rest knowing that God is at work even while we sleep—ordering our steps, shaping our character, and establishing what’s ahead. TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3 YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER Dear God, Tonight, we come before You with open hands and an open heart. Father, forgive us for the times we say we trust You but still try to carry everything on our own. We want to commit to You whatever we do—our plans, our hopes, our questions, and the things we don’t yet understand. We release the pressure to have it all figured out, and we ask You to forgive us for relying on our desires more than on You. Teach us to trust that You are establishing Your perfect plans for our lives, even when what we see doesn’t look perfect right now. Align our hearts and intentions with Your will. As we rest tonight, help us trust that You are already at work—ordering our steps, protecting our future, and preparing what’s ahead. We surrender everything in our hearts and minds to You. We place this season, this upcoming year, and our lives in Your hands. In Your mighty name we pray, Amen.

A Prayer for When the Truth Hurts | Your Daily Prayer

Lies often begin as an attempt to avoid pain—whether it’s a small exaggeration meant to spare feelings or a major deception that shakes a relationship to its core. But this devotional reminds us that while lies promise comfort, they ultimately deliver harm. Deceit doesn’t just damage the relationship between two people; it also erodes the integrity of the one who lies and creates a ripple effect of distrust that can last far beyond the original betrayal.

Birth of Isaac

Genesis 21 celebrates the miraculous birth of Isaac, a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness and the fulfillment of His promises. Even when circumstances seem impossible, God remains true to His word.

Candace Cameron Bure Opens Up About Her Biggest Fears — and How She Overcomes Them

Candace Cameron Bure opened up about her biggest fears and how she overcomes them. The actress, writer and podcast host shared what makes her question herself and her abilities. Watch the short but powerful clip to listen to the “Fuller House” actress discuss what causes her trepidation and fear, and how she battles back against them.

Everyone has something that results in them feeling anxiety. Likely, if people were being completely honest, multiple things cause individuals to feel this way. Some may have a fear of tight, enclosed spaces, needles, heights (me) or even flying. Those are all common things.

Sadly, the list of fears does not stop there. Additionally, many other things can induce fearful, apprehensive feelings, which are likely to make people break out in a cold sweat. For instance, people may believe that, for whatever reason, they are inadequate and unworthy of love or of the position or job that they are in. They might question their ability to do this or that and have an incredible fear that others will discover how they are lacking in one way or another.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Candace mentioned that she has a big fear that she will be found “not good enough” or “smart enough.” Candace added that a “fear of failure is always, always running in my mind.”

However, despite her fears, she manages to push through every one of those things that cause her great anxiety and adds how she can do that every day. She puts her faith and trust in God, understanding that through Him she is able to do all things.

“I know I’m not the smartest person in the room,” she said. “I’m not trying to convince myself that I am; it’s not that. It’s just to say that, that God is more powerful than that, and if God has opened this door and has me here, then He can use me, no matter how intelligent or how many degrees I do or don’t have.”

Philippians 4:13 “I am able to do all things through Him who gives me strength.”

God's Grace Is Enough for This Year, Too | Your Nightly Prayer

As a new year begins, it can feel like we’re celebrating less because we’re excited—and more because we’re relieved to leave the old year behind. Time isn’t always kind, and life doesn’t always feel fair. But the turning of the calendar doesn’t remove hardship.

A Prayer for Delight on Disappointing Days | Your Daily Prayer

Disappointment has a way of showing up unexpectedly—sometimes through life-altering hardship, and sometimes through smaller shifts that still sting deeply. This devotional reminds us that even when our disappointments feel insignificant compared to others’ struggles, they still matter to God because they matter to us. And while we may wish disappointing days would disappear completely, Scripture is honest that trouble is part of life. But so is God’s steady presence.

Rooted in Christ Alone | Your Nightly Prayer

Heavenly Father, I confess how easily I divide my attention—how quickly I let responsibilities, distractions, and even good things pull my focus away from You. Tonight, I want to be rooted in Christ alone. Help me fix my eyes on Jesus. When storms rise around me, remind me that You are my firm foundation and my steady ground. Teach me to live my life in Christ, not just around Him—so that every moment flows from dependence on You, not self-effort. When I feel pulled in a hundred directions, draw me back to what matters most: Your presence, Your love, and Your truth. Strengthen me by Your Spirit to live this new year grounded in Christ, faithful in the small moments, and steady in every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Prayer for New Beginnings | Your Daily Prayer

New beginnings often come with mixed emotions. While we long for what’s fresh and restored, stepping into something new usually requires letting go of what’s familiar—even when it’s uncomfortable or painful. This devotional paints that picture through a story of a guarded man who finds healing when he chooses forgiveness, community, and courage over isolation. His journey reflects a deeper spiritual truth: new life almost always involves release before renewal.

"Ever have one of those days

"Ever have one of those days where you feel like you’re carrying the weight of the world entirely on your own? Maybe the house is loud, but you feel lonely, or your to-do list is long, and you feel invisible. I want to share a truth that changed my perspective this morning” – (1-Minute Devotion)

Abraham and Abimelech: God’s grace

In Genesis 20, we see Abraham and Sarah face a moment of fear that leads to deception, yet God’s grace shines through.

Couple’s Wedding Song Plays — What Happens Next Will Bring You to Tears

A couple’s wedding song started playing, and what happened next will bring you to tears. It will be a tall task for anyone to stop themselves from shedding a tear or two due to what occurred moments after this particular tune began. Watch the short but tear-jerking clip to see what happened that will cause you to reach for a tissue.

As has been said many times before, marriage is not easy. It’s a relationship between two flawed individuals with different thoughts and opinions on various topics. Sure, the husband and wife more than likely agree on the significant, most important things in life, but won’t see eye-to-eye on everything. Anyone who is or has ever been married understands that this can and often does lead to some pretty heated arguments.

Sometimes these arguments can get pretty loud. The outcome, of course, is usually that the husband has to spend the night on the couch, reflecting on where and how he was wrong and how he can do better next time. Anyone married knows this to be true as well.

In a clip posted on social media, a woman in her kitchen records herself looking at the camera while “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” plays. While this in itself is nothing special, viewers will have to read the large amount of text on the screen.

The text explains that “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” is her and her husband’s wedding song, and they promised one another “20 years ago that anytime our wedding song came on, we had to dance.”  She adds that they agreed to dance together regardless of what was going on at the moment. They had to drop everything and dance together.

Moments later, her husband appears in the kitchen, ready to dance with his wife to their wedding song. However, what makes this video likely to bring a tear or two to your eyes is that they had recently been arguing, but he held onto and upheld the promise he made to his wife despite their fight.

Genesis 2:24 “For this cause will a man go away from his father and his mother and be joined to his wife; and they will be one flesh.”

Henry Winkler Busts Out Some Impressive Dance Moves

Henry Winkler demonstrated some unexpectedly impressive dance moves. The legendary Hollywood actor put his fancy footwork on display for all to see. Watch the short but jaw-dropping clip of The Fonz stealing the show with his outstanding dance moves.

Dancing is one of those things that everyone can do. All you really need is some music, a space large enough to show off those moves and a willingness to do it regardless of what people may think. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and show everyone what you’ve got.

Now, when it comes to dancing, some people will prove to be better dancers than others. That’s kind of how most things in life go, and dancing is no different. There will be individuals who clearly know what they are doing, impressing everyone as they effortlessly move about the dance floor. Additionally, there will be those who haven’t the slightest clue as to what they are doing. They have spent little time on a dance floor, and it shows.

As to what group I best fit in, it’s clearly the second. I haven’t spent much time on a dance floor, and nor should I. It would be a bad thing for everyone with sight. Henry Winkler, as a clip posted on social media shows, is quite my and many other people’s opposite and knows what he’s doing when it comes to dancing.

“The Happy Days” actor was moments away from appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show when he made his way down the hallway in style, strutting his stuff for all to see. The Fonz proved that, even in his advanced age, he is still the king of cool.

As he danced down the hallway, members of the show’s staff lined either side of the hallway and sang a song written for him. If their tune sounds somewhat familiar, that’s only because it should. It’s a take on Billy Joel’s “The Longest Time,” just substituted with different lyrics.

Psalm 149:3 “Let them give praise to his name in the dance: let them make melody to him with instruments of brass and corded instruments of music.”

Sodom and Gomorrah’s destruction

In Genesis 19, we witness the tragic destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, a story that warns of the consequences of compromise, sin, and the subtle influence of culture on our lives. Through Lot’s story, we see the dangers of passivity, the impact of poor decisions on family, and the importance of fleeing temptation.

Finding Another Way- Lessons of Epiphany

Epiphany Sunday is not just about recognizing truth; it is about choosing what to do once that truth is revealed… Finding Another Way I had an epiphany in church yesterday, thanks to our pastor, on Epiphany Sunday. And yes—the pun is intentional. The word epiphany comes from the Greek epiphainein, meaning revelation, appearance, or manifestation. On Epiphany Sunday, we celebrate the revelation of Christ to the Gentiles—best known as the story of the Magi, or the Three Wise Men, who came bearing gifts to the Christ child. Here is the familiar story from Matthew 2: Wise Men from the East Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.” When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way. If you missed the subtext of the story, Herod wanted the foretold Messiah eliminated. The Magi came to Jerusalem seeking guidance about the newborn King of the Jews. Herod directed them to Bethlehem and instructed them to return with word of the child’s whereabouts- but they were warned in a dream that Herod intended to kill the Child. They refused to obey. Herod’s threat was real. When he realized he had been defied by the Magi, he ordered the killing of all the young boys in Bethlehem in an attempt to ensure that the long-expected Messiah would not survive. But the massacre failed in its intention. Mary and Joseph fled with Jesus to Egypt, and the story of salvation continued to unfold. It seems to me that the Magi were not only wise, but courageous- willing to disregard the orders of a powerful and treacherous king. My insight this year is that Epiphany Sunday is not just about recognizing truth; it is about choosing what to do once that truth is revealed and who to obey. The decision by the Wise Men to follow God’s will changed history. What if they had obeyed the king’s orders and returned to Jerusalem, even though they knew better? What if they had not found another way home? The story of humanity might have turned out very differently. I see clear parallels today- and that is at the heart of my epiphany. There have been millions of words spent analyzing the events of the past year and the change of course for our nation. To me, the emerging mindset can be summarized simply as might makes right. Not mercy or kindness, not fairness or justice, but coercion, retribution, transactional advantage, bullying- raw power. “Holding the cards.” Many of us grew up believing our nation aspired to something better, perhaps best expressed in the words popularized by Martin Luther King Jr.: “The arc of history bends toward justice.” These days, it feels like the arc is bending back the other way. The law of the jungle is not new- it's ancient. Thucydides described it 2,500 years ago: “The strong do what they can, and the weak suffer what they must.” Anyone who has read the Gospels knows this is the exact opposite of the message of Jesus and the will of the Father. What if the Magi had put their self-interest before their conscience? We can’t know. But we can rest in the belief that our Savior lives. And so we live in hope. The heavenly King reigns, and the tyrant king is dust. The song pairing this week is a demo of a recent song “Love has the Final Word.” https://youtu.be/Gr9dsS9rYcQ Until next time, stay safe, be brave and keep walking in the light. Love Has the Final Word The cool sea breeze washes over my skin fragile and new, I’m born again the stars stake their place above this is what I’m thinking of Love, has the final word love, has the final word love, love, love it has the final word graceful clouds drift across the moon the sun will be rising soon you show me what it means to love this is what I’m thinking of Love, has the final word love, has the final word love, love, love it has the final word I heard you whisper, it's time to begin I felt your love then, you said, let me in The tide rolls in, the shadows fade we share the warmth of a brand-new day love has the final word, love has the final word Love, love, love has the final word

Releasing Last Year's Burdens | Your Nightly Prayer

Dear Father, Tonight, I come to You with everything I’ve carried from last year—the burdens, the stress, the pain, the regrets, and the disappointments. You tell me to cast my anxiety on You because You care for me, and I want to believe that truth with my whole heart. Help me release what I’ve been holding too tightly. Strengthen me to trust You enough to let go and rest in Your care. Remind me that I don’t have to replay yesterday in my mind, because You are already present in tomorrow. Open my heart to believe that You are making things new in my life. Free my heart and mind from the weight of what was, and help me receive Your will and Your peace for what is ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
